Sad News

This has been a very hard week for Jeff and I. On Sunday, Hugo died. I’ve never cried so much in my life. He was a great dog… my first! He was always so full of energy and he kept me happy. I will miss his Hugo-maniac moments when he ran around our apartment as if possessed jumping on furniture and slidding on the straw mats. He made me smile. I miss him. The neighbors didn’t understand my grief and said I shouldn’t cry because it is “just a dog”. It’s hard to be made to feel silly for being sad, but Hugo was very special to me.

    P and J,
I am so sorry to read about Hugo. I can understand how sad you both must feel to lose such a great friend. I have a dog and I know that feeling of unconditional love that one can only get from an animal. Hugo was a very lucky dog to have been loved by you. I’ll be thinking about all 3 of you. Hang in there.

Jeff’s “in memorium” on your Bonjoure Benin blog was so elegant.

    Dear Mrs. Guevin,
I’m so sorry to hear about Hugo. I feel really bad. He was like one of your best friends. The blog about the sports in Africa was pretty neat! Are the kids good at playing baseball? The big Super Bowl is tommorow! I’ll e-mail you to let you know how they did. Well, I’m very sorry about Hugo and I hope you will cheer up soon!
    Stay safe!
    Love,
    Eliza

I’m so sad to hear about Hugo…I almost cried!! I am a true dog-lover and lost my yellow lab Bailey a few years ago…will you get another one?
Hang in there and know we are all thinking about you at the Igo!
