Here in Benin fabric is refered to as tissue. People buy tissue and have their clothes made. Looking good is important here.Us Americans in our t shirts and camping pants look so drab and disheveled compared to the meticulously groomed Beninese. The fabrics are colorful and beautiful. There are also some more humorous prints including the chickens and eggs; bowtie pasta, lamps, and the wide array of Catholic cloth. Jeff and I bought some blue tie dye fabric when I went to see hm in Azove. The vendor insisted that we purchase the same tissue because as she said we had already been seperated once and she did notwant us to be seperated again even in tissue. Here in Benin families often wear the same tissues.
